About Us
Bamboo Abbott FL Corp. is one of the oldest companies in the east coast fabricating shades. We originally began operations in the mid 1900's in New York City. In 1969, Bamboo Products purchased Abbott Miller and the names were combined to become Bamboo Abbott Inc. By the 1970's, Marty Rakitin moved to South Florida to open his new plant in Hallandale, Florida; leaving his brother Alan Rakitin in New Jersey. However, Alan soon followed his brother to South Florida and our corporation soon flourished from 4,000 sq.ft. into 25,000 sq. ft. plant. In the late 80's a new product was being developed for sun control. Phifer Wire approached, what was now called Bamboo Abbott FL, with a new shade cloth made of fiberglass with pvc coating. We are proud to say that we helped pioneer the products which you see in todays most exquisite homes and commercial properties. Todays collections, like "The Paintables" wovenwoods and "Island Trends" are still the primary product for our company.

Kensington Window Expressions
Kensington is a large company based outside of Atlanta, Ga. In the year 2000 it was determined that a national name brand product was needed to help seperate Interior Designers and independent dealers with large box stores and Internet suppliers and No 800 number catalog dealers. This would be the only large national branded product not to be sold in a big box store or internet. The Kensington brand includes Woven woods, Roller/Roman Shades, Horizontal Window Shadings, Honeycomb shades, Wood blinds, Alternative Wood blinds and Aluminum blinds.
